For coffee shops
A digital loyalty card for coffee shops
Swap the paper coffee card for one your regulars can't lose. They scan a QR code at the till with their phone camera and the stamp lands on their phone: no app to download. "Buy 9, get the 10th free" works exactly as before, and you finally see who your regulars are. Free to start.
A card set up for a coffee shop
A good starting point. You can change any of it in a minute, and changes only apply to new cards.
- 9 stamps, the 10th coffee free. Reward text: "Any regular coffee". Easy to explain while you're steaming milk.
- 2 stamps a day. For the morning and afternoon regular, with a 60-minute wait between stamps so one queue visit can't earn two.
- 1 welcome stamp. New customers start at 1 of 9, which gets paper-card regulars to switch.
- Reward valid for 90 days. The card shows the use-by date, and the customer gets an email a week before it expires.
Fits a busy coffee counter
- A tablet or old phone next to the till shows the stamp code. It changes every 25 seconds and works once, so a photo of it shared in a WhatsApp group earns nobody a free flat white.
- Takeaway window or no space on the counter? Switch to staff scan: the barista scans the code on the customer's card and taps "Add stamp". Print your join poster for new customers.
- Any way of paying. Cash, Yoco, SnapScan, Zapper or any card machine: the stamp doesn't come from the card machine.
- Rewards checked at the till. The customer taps "Use my reward" and the barista scans it. It works even when the Wi-Fi drops.
What you get that paper can't give you
- Your client list: names, visits, tags and notes ("oat milk, double shot"), downloadable any time.
- See how many stamps you gave today and how many rewards were redeemed this month.
- No more lost cards, forged stamps or cards printed again every few months.
What it costs
- Free for up to 100 active customers, with free staff PINs.
- Growth R199 a month for unlimited customers, once paid plans open after the pilot.
- No contract, no card machine, nothing for customers to pay or install.
Coffee shop loyalty questions
What's a good loyalty reward for a coffee shop?
A free regular coffee after 9 paid ones is what customers already know from paper cards. It costs you about one coffee's ingredients for every ten sold, and the customer can see exactly how close they are.
Can a customer get a stamp for each coffee if they buy two?
Komweer gives one stamp per scan. With a daily limit of 2 and no waiting time, they scan twice. If you'd rather reward visits, keep the limit at 1 a day.
Does it slow down the morning queue?
Returning customers scan once and the stamp is on their phone in a couple of seconds, while you make the coffee. Joining the first time takes about a minute, which they can finish while they wait.
How do I move my regulars off paper cards?
Keep honouring paper cards until they're full and give new sign-ups a welcome stamp. Most regulars switch within a few weeks once they see the card on their phone.
Does it work with Yoco or SnapScan?
Yes, and with cash or any other way of paying. Komweer doesn't connect to the card machine: the stamp comes from the QR code on the counter screen or from staff scanning the customer's card.
