Komweer compared with other South African loyalty apps

Komweer is a digital stamp card that works with cash and any card machine: customers scan a QR code at your counter, with no app to download. Yoco Loyalty is a points programme built into Yoco's card machines. StampChat runs on WhatsApp and Loyalink uses QR codes. Here's how they differ.

When Komweer fits

  • You take cash, use a card machine other than Yoco, or use more than one.
  • Your customers already understand "buy 9, get the 10th free".
  • You want to start free and see it working before you pay.
  • You want a client list you own and can download.

When another option may fit better

  • You already pay for Yoco Plus and prefer points: Yoco Loyalty is built into the card machine you use.
  • You want everything, including the card itself, inside a WhatsApp chat.
  • You serve a handful of regulars and a paper card is all you need.

Questions about choosing a loyalty app

Can I use Komweer without a Yoco (or any) card machine?

Yes. Komweer doesn't connect to a card machine at all. The stamp comes from a QR code on a phone or tablet at your counter, so it works with cash, any card machine or any other way customers pay.

Stamps or points: which loyalty programme is better for a small business?

For most small shops, stamps. "Buy 9, get the 10th free" is easy to explain at the till and customers can see how close they are. Points suit businesses with very different basket sizes, where rewarding by amount spent matters more.

How do I move from paper loyalty cards to digital?

Keep honouring paper cards customers already have until they're full, and start new customers on the digital card. A welcome bonus, such as two free stamps for joining, helps regulars switch.

How do I stop customers cheating on a loyalty card?

With Komweer, each counter code works once and changes every 25 seconds, so photos and screenshots don't work. You can also set a daily limit and a waiting time between stamps, and every stamp is logged with the staff member, device and time.

Do customers need to download an app for a digital loyalty card?

Not with Komweer. Customers scan the code with their phone camera and the card opens in their browser. They can add it to their home screen if they like.

No card machine, contract or app download needed.
